Argyle's H.O.P.E. Program

"Helping Our People Everyday"

Argyle's H.O.P.E. Program provides many hours of assistance to the seniors in our community.  This is accomplished through multi-generational volunteers, along with the Board of Directors.  In the fiscal year, July 2007- July 2008, the following statistics were reported to the Department of Human Services:

  • 92 Seniors received volunteer services
  • 24 Seniors received nursing assistance
  • 126 community members volunteered
  • 269 home health nurse visits were made for a total of 193 hours
  • 175 home health aid visits were made for a total of 170 hours
  • 3,317 volunteer hours were recorded
  • 1,050 service coordination hours were provided
  • 709 health promotional contacts were made
  • 2,357 outreach contacts were established
  • 638 Board of Directors' accumulated hours

Argyle's H.O.P.E. Program is made possible through a grant from Elderberry Institute in coordination with donations and volunteer assistance from community members.  The support shown through fundraisers such as the Annual basket Auction and Quilt Raffles makes it possible to provide programs and other offerings that benefit Argyle Seniors.

The savings/averting individuals from being admitted to a nursing home, with help of nursing services, is but one of the ways the H.O.P.E. Program benefits our Argyle seniors.  The multi-generational Recycling Project provides opportunities for school children and other citizens to assist seniors with their recycling needs and allows a chance the the youngsters to learn more about the seniors through scheduled visits.  Monthly Blood Pressure and bimonthly Foot Care Clinics are open to all Argyle citizens and provide a way for all interested individuals to monitor their health.  Delivering meals, visiting, picking up mail, and driving to doctor appointments, are just a few more ways that volunteers may assist.

Argyle's H.O.P.E. Program Board of Directors and staff are grateful to the many individuals who are part of this Program.  The nursing and home health aid staff from Altru Home Services- North Valley provide individualized care that is coordinated with the H.O.P.E. Program, thus making it possible to provide seniors in our community the most complete care package possible.  The acronym, "Helping Our People Everyday", is evident through the participation of our many volunteers who are truly "neighbors helping neighbors."
