The City of
Argyle continues to strive in this recession.
Last summer an
addition to the Argyle Depot Museum, sponsored by donations to
the Argyle Historical Society, was constructed. There will
be a kitchen, bathroom, and more display areas. The S/A
Central Elementary School playground has a new larger set with a
soft rubber safety floor system in place which is being enjoyed
by our youngsters. This summer the playground will
add a soccer setup. The school has a web site,
www.sac.k12.mn.us which
provides updates about school and extra curricular activities.
Our high-speed
wireless internet will add a new fiber optic system to improve
cable television reception with more channels. For any
information, the city has a web site:
www.ci.argyle.mn.us.
We are in the
planning stages of a major improvement project for our water and
sewer systems. This will provide better service for our
residents and eliminate the overtaxing of our waste water system
with a clean water infiltration. Part of the project will
be funded with a grant from USDA Rural Development.
Construction will begin in early summer.
On behalf of
the City of Argyle, I would like to invite everyone to visit our
community and attend our annual "Meet Your Neighbor Day"
festivities held on the weekend of June 26, 2010.
Sincerely,
Bob Clausen
Mayor

COMMENTS FROM...THE
ARGYLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPER
2009 was a very good
year in Argyle. The Meet Your Neighbor Day celebration was
a great success again. The Roosters street dance was one
of the highlights of the event. The Roosters will return
to Argyle on Saturday, June 26th for the 2010 MYND event.
Watch the Messenger for more information about the annual
Meet Your Neighbor Day celebration. The Argyle Community
Club does a wonderful job organizing this event. The club
is open to anyone interested in helping keep Argyle an
interesting place to live.
Awards,
championships, events, and human interest stories are shown
throughout this paper to help recapture the year 2009. I
do try to get most of the Argyle highlights, but if I missed
anything, I apologize. Once again, our housing industry is
doing well with homes being purchased, and one new home built.
Our business community is also doing well.
The cover of this
year's newspaper shows Argyle's community commitment during the
Christmas season. A huge thank you to all who were
involved with the decorating and lighting our town with cheer!
There were actually 25 trees, plus the gazebo, decorated for the
season. Sorry that not all were pictured.
Lowell (Amos) Engen
was hired by the City of Argyle upon the resignation of Kelly
Durand. Kelly worked for the City of Argyle for 15 years.
Thanks for all the years, Kelly!
I would urge any
Argyle resident receiving heating assistance to contact
Tri-Valley in Crookston and inquire about weatherization
opportunities. According to recent news articles, there
are funds available for home weatherization improvements.
Sincerely,
